Mistakes, misinterpretations, misconceptions, misunderstandings, and confusion.

Calling all ECG Nerds, ECG Geeks, Monitor Freaks, Arrhythmophiles, and Arrhythmicists.

The driving purpose of this blog is to explore all fascists of electrocardiographic mistakes and errors whether they be computerized, human, or both.

In reference to complete A-V block, Dr. Marriott once said "probably no entity in cardiology is so often overdiagnosed and then overtreated."

  1. Jason, I salute your initiative and I hope that your blog will bring some light among the ecg readers. Personally, I think there is a lot of confusion about many aspects of the ecg interpretation and it's (unfortunately) spread among all classes of ecg readers (from the ecg technicians, nurses to some attending cardiologists). To be a little more specific, I've noticed that SA and AV blocks (all of them, except maybe 1st degree AVB :), AV dissociations, Ventricular origin vs SV origin with aberrancy and AFL vs AF to be more frequently misdiagnosed. Maybe the certification processes should be a little more aggressive when testing the candidates (be it a CCT or EPC examination).
